Mission ICDS employees demand release of pending wages

An emergency meeting of employees of mission ICDS of Jammu province was held here on Wednesday.

During the meeting chaired by Umar Jan, provincial president of Non-Gazzetted Employees Association, Social Welfare and ICDS, the employees, in one voice, demanded that their pending salaries be released at the earliest.

Addressing the meeting, Umar Jan said that in some districts, the employees have not been paid the salaries for the past 7 months, while in other districts, they are awaiting their wages of 3 months.

He further said that time and again, through representations, the matter was brought to the notice of the higher authorities, but the needful was not done by the government.

“Most of the employees working under the ICDS mission are women. They’re facing lot of difficulties sans salaries,” Jan said.

He said that the employee of ICDS were hoping that after creation of separate directorate of mission ICDS in the year 2014, they will get their salaries on time, “but is sad to say that the mission ICDS has become a hub of favouritism and nepotism since then.”

The employees appealed the ministry of women and child development, government of India and Governor SP Malik to ensure that they get their pending salaries at the earliest.
