Mobile internet services snapped in Jammu

Pertinently, Kashmir valley is witnessing series of protests and stone pelting incidents after the killing of HM Commander, Burhan Wani in an encounter with security forces and police in Kokernag area last evening.

Apprehending “misuse” of social networking sites, Divisional Administration here this evening snapped the mobile internet services in Jammu region.

“To stop rumor mongering on social networking sites, we have temporarily blocked the internet services in Jammu region”, Divisional Commissioner, Pawan Kotwal told Greater Kashmir.

The Divisional official however said that a decision about lifting of ban will be taken after a review meeting in the night.

On delay in imposing restrictions in Jammu, he said, “Situations are entirely different in Jammu. So, after we felt it is the right time for doing so, we did it”.

Meanwhile, fearing law and order problems in examination centers of Srinagar city, the University Grant Commission (UGC) postponed the UGC-NET examination in all examination centers across Srinagar City. However, the exam will be held as per schedule at Jammu.
