MVD told to hold eyesight check-up camps for drivers

Principal secretary to government, transport department, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, today directed the motor vehicle department MVD) to hold camps for regular eyesight check-up of commercial drivers to minimize accidents.

He was speaking at a meeting that he chaired here today. The meeting was attended by IGP Traffic Alok Kumar, DG Budgets Muhammad Yaqoob Yatoo, Director State Motor Garages Zakir Hussain Choudhary, RTO Jammu Deep Raj and other concerned officers.

   

RTO Kashmir Ahmudullah Tak, and other officers of the Kashmir region participated in the meeting via video conferencing, an official handout said.

He directed the officers to pace up the procurement of fitness checking equipment besides the purchase of bikes for field staff of MVD and traffic police personnel deployed for law enforcement duty.

He asked the officers to arrange refresher driving courses for all commercial vehicle drivers which will include lessons on rules and regulations of traffic.
