NC expresses concern over inadequate diagnostic facilities at GMC Jammu

National Conference provincial secretary, Jammu and former MLC Sheikh Bashir Ahmed on Friday expressed grave concern over inadequate diagnostic facilities, especially echo machines in the premier hospitals in the winter capital, saying the patients are put in a queue as per their turn without realising the gravity of cases.

In a statement, he said the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu is having just one echo machine, which is quite inadequate for taking care of huge number of patients, mostly referred from various districts of the Jammu region.

He said this causes immense suffering to the patients, who are mostly forced to carry out such tests in private clinics at whopping charges.

Bashir sought echo machines in adequate numbers in GMC, super-specialty, SMGS and Gandhi Nagar hospitals besides all the district hospitals at least to reduce pressure of referral cases here.

He said health services being a priority sector, due attention is required to be given in order to make available diagnostic facilities and medicines to patients.

The provincial secretary urged the Governor’s Administration to look into this matter of immense public importance and take all necessary measures in making available necessary facilities to the patients.
