NC, PDP running ‘anti-India’ election campaign: Ikkjutt Jammu

Accusing the National Conference and the People’s Democratic Party of running an “anti-India” election campaign, Ikkjutt Jammu has appealed to the Election Commission of India to cancel the election /candidature of Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti for the Srinagar and the Anantnag parliamentary constituencies respectively.

“How could the ECIclose its eyes to ‘pro-Pakistan’ and ‘pro-Jihadi’ election campaign being runby the two former Chief Ministers of the state namely Farooq Abdullah andMehbooba Mufti,” said Ankur Sharma, chairman IkkJutt Jammu while addressing apress conference here.

Sharma said the ECI has “consciously failed” to take note ofMehbooba Mufti’s public statements “supporting banned organisation Jamaat eIslami; opposing arrest of Yasin Malik of banned organisation JKLF; herrepeated public utterances that Pakistan has also not kept its nuclear bombsfor Eid and (other) outrageous anti India statements.”

“The ECI has chosen to close its eyes and ears to the brazenanti-India campaign being run by both the NC and the PDP in Kashmir, whichhelped transform the democratic process into a subversive process,” Sharmasaid.

“How could the election campaign be allowed to operateoutside the boundaries of the constitution of India” Sharma asked.

“Toleration of anti-India campaign by ECI does not cover itwith glory but only with a permissiveness to allow anti-democratic forces toenter into election fray so that democracy is damaged from within,” Sharmastated.

“There is still time for the ECI to intervene and stop thebrazen anti-India campaign of contesting candidate Mehbooba Mufti in Anantnagparliamentary constituency,” he said, adding that Mehbooba Mufti and FarooqAbdullah “must be banned from contesting the elections forthwith to preventdemocratic process to be eaten by termites from within.”
