NMC recommends re-opening of Medical Colleges in J&K

National Medical Commission (NMC) has recommended re-opening of Medical Colleges on or before December 2020 across Jammu and Kashmir.

The NMC has also given a suggestive schedule of training for different classes and also advised that sufficient number of non-COVID beds may be made available in Medical College Hospitals to facilitate undergraduate medical training.

“You are requested to ensure scrupulous implementation of the directions issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as well as NMC in the best interest of Medical Education and re-opening of medical colleges at same time across the Union Territory after observing the SoPs/guidelines with respect to social distancing and prevention of spread of epidemic,” reads an order issued by the Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education Department, Atal Dulloo. The medical colleges were closed after the outbreak of covid19 in J&K.
