One arrested for spreading rumours of coronavirus death in J-K

One person was arrested for spreading rumours on socialmedia about the death of a person due to coronavirus in Kishtwar district ofJammu and Kashmir, a senior government official said on Thursday.

District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kishtwar, RajinderSingh Tara advised people not to pay heed to false information.

   

The district officer clarified that the death was not due tocoronavirus, but other reasons.

The person, hailing from Palmard village of Kishtwar, diedwhile undergoing treatment at a hospital in Jammu, he said.

He said police is identifying the other people involved inspreading the rumour on social media.

The DDC said the district administration has taken variouspreventive steps for the safety of the people and check the spread of thedeadly coronavirus infection.

The district administration had already imposed prohibitoryorders banning assembly of five or more persons and restricted movement ofpublic transport in certain areas.
