“Only 18% funds released by GoI under PM’s package”

The J&K government on Tuesday informed the Lower House that only 18 percent funds were released by government of India out of Rs 80000 crore Prime Minister’s package for the state.

This was revealed in a written reply from planning and development minister to a query raised by Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) MLA from Kathua.

   

The minister in his reply stated that out of Rs 80000 crores, Rs 14190 crores were released till date.

“Out of Rs 14190 cores released, nearly 80 percent (11917 crores) have been spent in various sectors,” the minister in his reply said.

He however said the Rs 80000 crore package has been revised to Rs 82452.66 crores now.

The government in its reply said there was no time frame set by the government of India for utilizing the funds.

“…Rather it depends on the government’s capacity to spend the funds,” the minister in his reply said.

As per the government reply, only 41 percent of the funds released under the interest subvention on assistance for restoration of livelihood for traders/self-employed/business establishments have been spent.

“Under the Youth Services and Sports, only 45 percent funds have been utilized so far,” the reply reads.

Also, the government informed the House that it has spent 47 percent of the funds for the restoration of damaged horticulture areas and development of horticulture.

“61 percent of the funds released so far in the tourism sector have been spent,” the minister in his reply said.

As per the reply, 45 percent funds have been utilized under Swach Bharat Mission till date while as 37 percent funds have been utilized for Himayat scheme.

“Out of Rs 643 crores released for the Udhampur-Ramban Highway four laning, only  6.5 percent funds have been released till date from government of India,” the minister said.
