PDD workers call off strike, resume work

The agitating PDD casual paid and need based workers on Wednesday called off their ongoing 72 hours strike on the assurance by the state administration to redress their issues within one month.

3405 workers of PDP, who were sitting in the premises of PDD Chief Engineer Office Jammu, on tool down strike called off their strike and resumed work in their respective places. 

   

“On the assurance of PDD chief engineer Jammu Sudhir Gupta who met the agitator workers yesterday evening and assured to redress the issues within one month as files related to workers has been prepared by the department and sent to the government for consideration for salary including regularization of workers as Daily wagers, the union leaders today in the morning hours decided to call off 72 hours strike which started on October 8,” PDD Union President Akhil Sharma told Greater Kashmir.

“Let us hope for a positive response from government as far as the issues of workers are concerned,” he maintained and added that if government fails to resolve their issues, the union will again launch a mass agitation against the government after the end of one month.
