Former minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Choudhary Lal Singh on Friday said that the PDP-BJP coalition government headed by Mehbooba Mufti was the worst in the history of Jammu and Kashmir.

Singh was minister in the same government till April this year. He was later forced to resign after a video of him surfaced online in which he allegedly supported the accused of Rassana rape victim during a rally organized by Hindu Ekta Manch.

Singh said that PDP has totally failed to control growing radicalization in Kashmir. He claimed that BJP sincerely played its part as coalition partner but PDP started ‘anti-India’ campaign which forced BJP to pull out from the coalition government.

“Despite all cooperation and help from the union government, Mufti government failed on developmental front. The former chief minister only advocated for dialogue with all ‘so called’ stakeholders in the Kashmir valley including Hurriyat and Pakistan and set Kashmir on fire,” Singh said while addressing a press conference here. “Mufti had Home portfolios and she miserably failed in controlling militancy activities, growing radicalization among youth, and she also spoiled the Rasana rape and murder case of an eight year old girl. We will also appeal to the Governor N N Vohra for CBI probe in Rasana case.”

“PDP tried to create a communal wedge among people on religion and region lines but people of Jammu played a sensible role and thwarted her nefarious plan,” said Singh. “PDP did no development work and instead released stone-pelters, tried to fulfill its ‘anti-national’ agenda and also made an attempt to disrupt peace in Jammu but we did not allow it to happen.”

He also congratulated BJP’s national president Amit Shah for pulling out of alliance. “We welcome BJP national president Amit Shah for taking the right decision as it was the high time now to pull out,” he said.

“Though Governor’s Rule is not in the interest of the state but Vohra is an experienced man and we are sure that he will handle and clear the mess created by the Mehbooba Mufti,” said Singh. On Mehbooba Mufti’s remark on use of muscle power in Kashmir, Singh said, “Wherever muscle power is required, it will be used to restore normalcy in Kashmir.”
