PHE workers take out protest rally

All J&K PHE ITI Trained CP Workers and Land Donor Association took out a rally from Exhibition Ground Jammu towards PHE chief engineer office at B C Road Jammu on Monday, to press the government for releasing their long pending wages.

Around 200 PHE daily wagers from 17 divisions of Jammu region along with their children, led by its state president TanveerHussain, assembled at Exhibition Ground and took out a rally from there. The protesters also blocked DograChowk for some time and raised anti-government slogans.

   

Tanveer, while addressing the media, said, “PHE chief engineer had assured us that our demands will be considered before October 10, but he failed to deliver. Now, we have been forced to come out on the roads and agitate for our genuine demands.”

“The workers have not been paid for several months and they are facing severe hardships to meet both ends meet. The government has failed miserably to uphold its commitment,” he added.

He further said that if government fails to redress the demands, the Association will launch a mass agitation in the Jammu region.
