Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma today directed Deputy Commissioners of border districts to take strict action against the engineers showing poor performance in the construction of Bunkers on the border.
The Div Com was chairing a meeting with Deputy Commissionersof border districts to review the progress on construction of bunkers alonginternational border and LoC.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Jammu,Ramesh Kumar, senior officers of executing agencies, while Deputy Commissionersof Kathua, Samba, Rajouri and Poonch along with Engineers of PWD and RDDattended the meeting through video conferencing.
The Div Com directed the DCs to personally monitor theconstruction of bunkers, He directed the executing agencies and DCs to setweekly/monthly targets and expedite the pace of work for the construction ofindividual and community bunkers.
The Deputy Commissioners apprised the Div Com thatconstruction work is being hampered due to slow supply of construction material(cement, steel).
The Div Com directed the concerned agencies to immediatelyresolve these issues and expedite the pace of work. Taking series note of gapsin the execution of work, he sought strict action against the Engineersconcerned.
The DCs concerned informed that 120 bunkers are at differentstages of construction in Samba, while work on 298 bunkers in Kathua and 387 inPoonch is in progress.
