Restriction on high speed internet extended till December 11

Home Department today extended restriction on high speed internet till December 11, 2020.

Principal Secretary, Home, Shaleen Kabra in his order has stated that with the announcement of District Development Council, Panchayat and Urban Local Bodies elections, intense political activity was being witnessed across the J&K.

“However, there has been a continued attempt from across the border to disrupt the election process by vitiating the security environment. The law enforcement agencies have well founded apprehensions of enhanced efforts by Pakistan for causing public disaffection, recruitment in militant ranks, as well as infiltration attempts which heavily depend upon high speed internet,” reads the order.

It further reads that “there has been a surge in militant activities like Ban Toll Plaza in Nagrota, Parimpora and Srinagar.” However, Ganderbal and Udhampur districts will continue to enjoy 4G speed internet.
