In a bid to secure all the four RajyaSabha seats going to polls on February 7, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Peoples Democratic Party have devised a formula wherein some independent MLAs will vote for the PDP while some PDP MLAs will vote for the BJP to ensure their victory.
Sources told Greater Kashmir that the BJP’s National General Secretary Ram Madhav shared the formula with the party MLAs during a meeting here. The meeting was also attended by a legislator of Peoples Conference, Bashir Ahmad Dar.
“As per understanding, some independent MLAs who were reluctant to vote for BJP, are most likely to vote for the PDP. In turn, some of the PDP MLAs will be voting for the BJP so that the required number is achieved,” a senior BJP MLA, who attended the meeting, told Greater Kashmir.
He however refused to name the MLAs. “It is all part of the strategy and will be inappropriate to names the legislators,” he said.
“All MLAs present in the meeting held a mock exercise on how to vote in the RS polls so that there is no confusion on the polling day,” former Mayor and newly-elected MLA, Kavinder Gupta, said.
