‘Sanction leave of officers above 50 for self-quarantine’

Amending rules, the government of India has issued directions to sanction leaves of officials above 50 years of age for self-quarantine.

“Leave sanctioningauthorities advised to sanction leave to officials who wish to self-quarantineas a preventive measure,” reads an order issued by Umesh Kumar Bhatia, DeputySecretary, Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and PensionsDepartment of Personal and Training.

   

In relaxation of centralcivil services (leave) rules, 1972, it has now been decided with the approvalof competent authority to grant commuted leave without production of medicalcertificate to those officials who are above 50 years of age and have underlyingconditions i.e. diabetes, and respiratory problems, said the order.

“Renaldiseases and other life-threatening illness, for a period up to April 4 so asto avoid unnecessary burden on the health care system,” it reads.
