BJP MLC Ashok Khajuria on Monday threatened to throw NC’s ShowkatHussainGanai out of the House after the latter refused to chant ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ in the Legislative Council.
As discussion was going on in the House, the NC MLC said the people of Kashmir were not in support of Pakistan but wanted freedom.
The statement agitated the BJP members who stood up from the chair and demanded apology from the NC legislator.
“During last session he also termed militants as martyrs. He should apologize for it in the House,” Khajuria told the House. The House witnessed noisy scenes as members from ruling BJP and opposition NC entered into heated exchange of words.
“Bolo Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” Khajuria told Ganai repeatedly five times. As Ganai didn’t, the BJP member told him, “I will throw you out of the House.”
Leader of the House Naeem Akhtar intervened at this moment and said all the members have taken oath under the Constitution of India and “there is no room to speak against the Constitution in the House.”
Meanwhile, the Chairman announced name of a PDP legislator while others agitated saying they were not given chance to participate in the discussion. BJP MLC Sofi Muhammad Yousuf continued his protest despite the Leader of House asking him to sit down. In the meantime, NC lawmaker Sajad Ahmad Kichloo entered into a heated exchange with Chairman and accused him of having bias against opposition members particularly NC. To this, Chairman retorted and asked him to lower down his tone while addressing the Chair. “I am not here because of you but all members have decided it. You have become habitual of making noisy scenes in the House,” Chairman shouted at Kichloo.
