Scale up activities to compliment efforts of admin: LG to IRCS

Lieutenant Governor (LG), Girish Chandra Murmu Friday asked Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Jammu to collaborate with local Municipalities and identify mentally unsound, homeless destitute on priority to provide them with a means of sustenance.

The LG was chairing a meeting with the functionaries of IRCSat Raj Bhavan to take stock of activities being carried out by the society inwake of COVID19 outbreak in the region.

   

Bipul Pathak, Principal Secretary to the LG; Sanjeev Verma,Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, who is also the Chairman IRCS, and VinodMalhotra, honorary Secretary, IRCS, attended the meeting.

The LG asked the Society to focus on taking immediate careof families whose sole bread earners have either been quarantined or put underisolation in an effort to control the cronavirus infection.

He called for providing basic survival kits comprisingration, soaps, and medicines to the families in distress locality-wise so thatthe needy were covered in comprehensive manner.

The LG emphasized on massive awareness generation amongpeople by involving NGOs, social-religious organizations and volunteers tobring about a conscientious behavioral change with regard to the importance ofmaintaining personal hygiene and social distancing.

He stressed the Society should organize awareness camps andundertake regular fumigation of places with high footfall especially mandis,warehouses, and industrial estates.

Verma briefed the LG about various activities of the Societytowards COVID19 prevention and relief efforts in the region.
