State level committee to peg compensation in faulty ‘ASR Hip Implants’ cases

Jammu and Kashmir government has constituted a state level committee to determine the quantum of compensation in respect of faulty ‘ASR Hip Implants’ manufactured by M/S Depuy International Limited (Now M/S Johnson Pvt. Ltd) and implanted in the state.

According to an order, Dr. Khursheed Ahmad Kangoo, Professor Orthopaedics, Government Medical College, Srinagar was appointed as chairperson of the committee.

   

Dr Narinder Kumar Sharma, Professor Radiology, Government Medical College, Jammu, Dr Majid Jahangir, Professor, Radio Diagnosis and Imaging, Government Medical College, Srinagar, Dr. Sanjeev Gupta, Professor, Orthopaedic, Government, Medical College, Jammu and B. K. Samantray, Representative of CDSCO appointed as members of committees while Lotika Khajuria, Controller, Drugs and Food Control Organization, J&K, Jammu has been appointed as Member Secretary.

The Committee tasked to review the application submitted to it by affected patients and recommend quantum of compensation, as admissible under appropriate law, and medical management, if any, the Central Expert Committee.
