Two-way traffic to be allowed on historic Mughal road from September 25

Authorities in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday said that two-way traffic would be allowed on the historic Mughal Road from Friday, September 25.

Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Rahul Yadav told Greater Kashmir that the authorities have decided to partially restore the road with main focus on facilitating the movement of fruit from Kashmir.

“We have ordered two-way movement of vehicles on the Mughal Road,” he said, adding that only the movement of fruit laden vehicles was earlier allowed from Kashmir to Jammu.

He informed that goods-laden vehicles could now move from both sides.

Yadav, however, added that civilian traffic would be regulated and that inter-provincial movement for civilians would be allowed only after permission from the office of the Divisional Commissioner.

He said that Rapid Antigen Testing of the intending travellers would be done at Bufliyaz and Heerpora.
