Te Union Secretary reviewed post flood operations in flood-hit Reasi areas of Jammu region and met with delegations from Bhomag, Mahore, Chassana, Thakarakote, Arnas, Thuroo and Reasi town.
Union Home Secretary, Anil Goswami today assured “all help” from the centre to Jammu and Kashmir “to overcome difficulties and rehabilitation of flood affected population”.
“A comprehensive report of his tour to the state would be sent to the Government of India as early as possible” Goswami told people after chairing a meeting of officers in Reasi district on Sunday afternoon.
As per a state government spokesperson, the Union Secretary reviewed post flood operations in flood-hit Reasi areas of Jammu region and met with delegations from Bhomag, Mahore, Chassana, Thakarakote, Arnas, Thuroo and Reasi town.
He assured all help from the Centre to the State to overcome the difficulties and help relief and rehabilitation of the affected population. He added that a comprehensive report of his tour would be sent to the Government of India ‘as early as possible’.
Goswami said that he has come to listen to the people’s problems and gave full assurance to the people to take up their demands. He said that the area has witnessed development in various sectors. “But there is a need to gear up efforts by the concerned line departments to give impetus to the developmental activities for strengthening delivery mechanism and boost tourism” he added.
People put forward their demands which mainly included to speed up post flood reconstruction and rebuilding purposes, road connectivity, tourist infrastructure development, creation of Reasi Development Authority, implementation of Master plan of area, redressal of unemployment, ration supply, inadequate medical facilities, water supply, establishment of power grid station, posting of staff in newly created blocks, Tehsils, Sub-divisions, etc.
He impressed upon all the officers to make optimum use of the available resources to provide better services to the people. He stressed for coordinated and dedicated efforts for strengthening the developmental initiatives.
Earlier Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Shabir Ahmad Bhatt briefed the Union Secretary about post flood situation and various development works started in the district.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Vivek Gupta, all the district officers and all sub divisional magistrates were present in the meeting.
