Widespread resentment against NDA govt prevails across country: Ambika Soni

Senior Congress leader Ambika Soni said on Saturday that widespread resentment against the NDA government prevailed across the country and appealed to her party workers to work together to expose the failures of the present ruling dispensation.

Soni, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary in charge of party affairs in Jammu and Kashmir, arrived here on a two-day visit to take stock of organisation and held a series of  meetings with party leaders including state unit president G A Mir.

“Large-scale resentment prevails in the state (J&K) and the country because of the failures of the Centre and the state government. Congress cadre should work together to grab the opportunity and come up to the exception of the people,” she said.

She will visit Srinagar tomorrow to take stock of organisational affairs of Kashmir division, state Congress chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said.

Describing party workers as the “backbone” and delegates and block presidents as “pillars” of the party, Soni asked them to strengthen the party and expose the alleged failures of the central and state governments.

She asked them to work hard to strengthen the Congress party under the young leadership of Rahul Gandhi.

“Youth have to play a major role in strengthening the organisation and that is why Gandhi choose to induct more and more youths in the organisation,” the Congress leader said.

She expressed confidence that party would emerge stronger and come to power in the next assembly election in the state.  “The Congress is the only secular alternative which is acceptable in all three regions of the state – Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh,” she  said.
