The government has asked private schools not to conduct any class test of students in their schools in contravention of winter vacation ordered by the school education department for all government and private schools.

The circular in this regard was issued by director school education Kashmir (DSEK) on Wednesday.

The development comes after some private schools have planned to conduct class test of students even after the declaration of winter vacations.

"It has come to our notice that some private schools have notified the class test schedule which indicates that the classwork will continue even after the declaration of winter vacations," reads the DSEK circular.

The circular reads that the winter vacations schedule shall be followed in letter and spirit by all government and private schools.

"Under no circumstances the schools shall conduct academic activities in violation of government order for winter vacations," the circular further states.

The school education department has further decided that winter coaching by private schools will be only allowed after proper voluntary consent of parents and proper permission of the directorate.

"In case any arrangement with regard to winter coaching is planned by private schools, same shall be made operational with the proper permission of directorate with full justification including undertaking that the arrangement will be run on basis of voluntary consent of parents," the circular reads.

It may be recalled that government in its winter vacation order has decided that last working day up to class 8th will be December 2 in all government and private schools and for 9th to 12th the last working day will be December 9.
