One person Saturday died in a road accident near Dangerpora on Srinagar-Anantnag national highway in Awantipora.
At about 2:10 pm a speeding Scorpio vehicle hit one personidentified as Abdul Majid Mir (aged about 45 years) son of Wali Mohammadresident of Dangerpora, Awantipora. In this accident, he sustained injuries andlater succumbed.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of lawin the instant matter. The driver along with the Scorpio vehicle fled away fromthe spot. Police is making efforts to track the Scorpio vehicle and the driver.
Body of the deceased will be handed over to the familymembers after completion of medico-legal formalities, police said.
