Inhabitants of Batpora Thursday held a protest demonstration at Lolab area, here, demanding the whereabouts of a boy missing since Wednesday evening.

Sources said the protesters including the family members of the missing youth, appealed to the police to trace 19-year-old Zakir Ahmad Bhat, a 12th standard student.

“Zakir had left his home as usual for evening prayers but he did not reach the mosque and is missing since Wednesday evening. We contacted all our relatives and friends but he is nowhere,” said his relative, Javed Ahmad.

He said that Zakir had left for evening prayers from his kin’s house, which is nearby his home. “After Iftar, he went for prayers and he did not return. We thought he would have gone to his home as usual and we did not contact his parents,” Javaid said.

“In the Sehri time when his father called us, we came to know that he had not gone to his home,” he said.

“We appeal to the general public please contact us on 7006720331 if they find him,” Javaid said.

A sit in protest was held in the afternoon with people demanding that police should trace the boy.

“We are investigating the matter. We hope we will trace him within few hours,” a police official said.
