17 arrested for violating restriction orders

Police on Thursday said it arrested 17 persons for violating orders for restriction on public movement in twin districts of Pulwama and Ganderbal.

A police statement said 14 persons were arrested forviolating restriction orders and offering prayers in Gade Mohalla Masjid inAwantipora town of Pulwama, despite clear orders from district magistrate andseveral announcements by police for offering prayers at home only.

   

A case (FIR number 38/2020) has been registered at policestation Awantipora.

Superintendent of Police, Awantipora, Tahir Saleem urgedpeople to follow the health Government advisories to control the spread ofCovid-19.

Meanwhile police said it arrested three persons forGanderbal for organising a community feast in violation of prohibitory ordersunder section 144 criminal procedure code.

A police official said a team from police station Ganderbalarrested the trio from Malpora area of Ganderbal for organising the feast.

SSP Ganderbal Khalil Poswal appealed people to stay home andavoid such programmes for safety of people under the present circumstances.
