17 sustainable goals integrated in draft New Edu Policy: Secy Hr Edu Deptt

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and the University Grants Commission (UGC) have integrated the UN’s 17 sustainable goals in the draft New Education Policy (NEP) -2019.

This was stated by Secretary Higher Education Department(HED), Talat Parvez Rohella at an event organized at Amar Singh College here.

   

“The UN’s sustainable goals have been listed as part of NewEducation Policy which will be launched this year. The UGC and the HRD ministryare integrating this as parameters to be measured in the NEP,” he said.

The event was organized to launch United Nations 17sustainable development goals wherein 54 colleges of Kashmir division wereinvolved in the programme to promote and localize the global forums inclusivedevelopment agenda.

The programme was held in collaboration with Gandhi GlobalFamily, an International Civil Society Organization accredited by the UnitedNations Department of Public Information.

Rohella said UN has vetted 17 sustainable goals from 2015 to2030 which will be pursued by the signatory countries to achieve the communitydevelopment.

He said the goals included hygiene, health, reduction inpoverty, water preservation, quality education, reduction in social inequityand reduction in emission of carbon.

“Some goals are social oriented, economic oriented while asrest are climate and environment oriented,” he said.
