Body of a youth was found hanging from a tree in Pulwama district on Saturday.
A police official said the body was found hanging from a tree by locals near Romshi nallah in Chewa Khuradh village.
The deceased was identified as Shabir Ahmad Dar, a resident of Ishandar village. He is survived by wife and three minor children. The police later took the body in custody for legal formalities, before handing it over to legal heirs for last rites. The official said the deceased was a psychiatric patient and was under treatment for last many years.
Meanwhile, another body of a 22-year-old youth was found hanging from a tree near his residence in Minjal Haroog village of Ramban district today.
Family sources said Lehar Chand, a labourer by profession, left his house on Friday and since then his whereabouts were not known. On Saturday, his body was found hanging from the tree by some locals who later informed the police.
A police official said a team was rushed to the spot and the body was shifted to District Hospital for conduct of postmortem and other legal medico formalities,. The body was later handed over to his family for last rites.
Station House Officer, police station Dhramkund, Inspector Firdous Ahmed while confirming the incident said the inquest proceedings under 174 CrPc has been initiated for further investigations.
“The exact cause of death will be confirmed only after we receive a postmortem report,” he said. In the past three months around 20 suicide cases have been reported in the district.
