2 drug peddlers, 8 gamblers arrested in Kulgam, Awantipora

Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Awantipora and Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession. Besides Awantipora Police have also arrested 08 gamblers from a gambling site and seized Rs 54,200/- stake money from their possession.

In a statement the police said, “in Awantipora, officers at a checkpoint established at Batagund Crossing Tral intercepted a suspicious person identified as Bashir Ahmad Dar resident of Larow JagirTral. During checking, officers were able to recover 02Kgs of Cannabis powder from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.”

   

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 10/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Tral and investigation into the matter has been initiated.

“In Kulgam, officers in the jurisdiction of Police Post Mirbazar established a checkpoint at Vessu Chowk and intercepted a vehicle (Bolero) bearing Chassis No. MA1ZP2TLKL6K29287 with one person on board. He has been identified as Subhash Chander resident of Karyal Khurad Colony Vishna, Jammu. During checking, officers were able to recover 225kgs of poppy straw concealed in 09 gunny bags from the said vehicle. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized,” it said.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 31/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Qazigund and investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Meanwhile, a police party of Police Station Tral raided a gambling site at village Bajwani Kahlil Tral after following an input about gambling activities and apprehended 08 gamblers. “They have been identified as Javid Ahmad Khanday resident of Amlar Tral, MohdIqbal Shah resident of Tral-e-Payeen, Niyaz Ahmad Khan resident of Tral, Mohd Shafi Bhat resident of Parigam, Mohd Shafi Mir resident of Tral, Hamid Masroor resident of Tral, Mohd Iqbal Kumar resident of Amlar, Ghulam Nabi Dar resident of Noorpora,” police statement reads.

Officers have seized playing cards and stake money of Rs 54,200/- from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to PS Tral where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 11/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tral and investigation has been initiated.
