‘2 drug peddlers among 6 arrested in Handwara, Srinagar’

Jammu and Kashmir police Thursday claimed to have arrested a suspected drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession, here. Besides, four persons were also arrested for allegedly attacking cops while a search was being conducted at the suspected rug peddler’s house.

The police said, “Officers at a checkpoint established atTRC Crossing Handwara intercepted a Santro Car, without registration number,and arrested one Prince Parvaiz Hanji of Maratgam. While searching the car, thecops recovered heroin which was concealed in a polythene bag. However, oneSahil Shafi Banday of Maratgam, who was also in the car, managed to escape fromthe spot.”

   

Upon questioning, police said, the arrested man disclosedthat he had more contraband substance hidden in his house. “A team was deputedto conduct a search, but the people inside the house pelted stones at the copsand also attacked them with sticks while trying to prevent the search,” theysaid.

Four persons were arrested on the spot, they said.

Meanwhile, police claimed to have arrested a suspected drugpeddler from Srinagar as well.

“During checking ar Gojwara CHowk, one Altaf Ahmad Najar,alias T K Khan, of Pather Masjid, Zainakadal, was intercepted and upon hissearch, 11 grams of brown sugar and Rs 22,200 cash was recovered,” they said.
