‘2 drug peddlers booked under PSA, 3 arrested’

Police on Wednesday said two drug peddlers were booked under Public Safety Act while to other drug peddlers were arrested from different districts of Kashmir.

A statement said two drug peddlers, identified as HilalAhmad Mir @ Hilal Galwan and Arif Nabi Mochi @ Kuka, both residents of Mazhamaarea of Magam in Budgam district were booked under the PSA.

   

“Police had earlierrecovered huge quantity of banned drugs from their possession and were bookedunder NDPS Act. They were also involved in selling banned drugs to youth of thearea and were posing threat to future generations by making youth drugaddicts,” said the statement.

A separate statement said police arrested two drug peddlersand recovered contraband substance from their possession in Anantnag district.

The statement said officers at a checkpoint at HangalgundChowk intercepted two individuals identified as Shahruk Khan and Sheikh Ijhar –both residents of Vishal Nagar Ijmer.

“During searches, officersrecovered 1650 gm of Charas from their possession. They have been arrested andshifted to police station Kokernag,” said the statement.

A case (FIR No. 16/2020) has been registered at policestation Kokernag.

Another statement said police arrested a drug peddler fromAwantipora area of Pulwama district and recovered psychotropic substance fromhis possession.

A statement said officers at a checkpoint established atAmirabad crossing intercepted an individual identified as Sameer Bhat ofChersoo Batpora in Awantipora. “During search, officers recovered 220Spasmoproxyvon capsules from his possession. He has been arrested and shiftedto police station Tral,” said the statement.

A case (FIR No. 19/2020) has been registered at policestation Tral, said the statement.

Meanwhile, police in handwara area of Kupwara districtlaunched a plantation drive at District Police Lines. The drive was launched bySP Handwara GV Sundeep Chakravarthy.

The SP Handwara said the drive will continue in other policeestablishments to promote conservation of environment.
