Awantipora Police today said that it has arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
According to a statement, “officers at a check point established at Dogripora near Railway Crossing intercepted a vehicle (Alto) bearing registration number JK04D-4088 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Muntazir Ahmad Sheikh son of Ali Mohammad and Mohammad Yousuf Khan son of Mohammad Qasim Khan both residents of Gopalpora Budgam. During checking, officers were able to recover 1.150 Kgs of contraband substance (Cannabis Sticks) from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to PS Awantipora where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.”
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 04/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated.
