Two forest employees were injured in an attack by sand smugglers in Laharwalpora village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Tuesday.
An official said the employees, identified as Abdul Rashid and Mohammad Hussain, were on patrol to check illegal extraction of sand, along the banks of Wular Lake in Laharwalpora village, when they were attacked by the smugglers.
“Both the employees were beaten to pulp by the smugglers. One of them was taken to district hospital Bandipora for treatment,” the official said.
He said police have taken cognizance of the case and registered an FIR against 11 persons allegedly involved in the attack, at police station Bandipora.
