2 killed, 18 injured in Anantnag road accident

Two persons, one among them a lady passenger, died while eighteen others were injured on Wednesday when a passenger vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident in Shoul village of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

A police official said a minibus bearing registration numberJK03- 5707, which was heading towards Anantnag from Shamsipora skidded off theroad near Shoul-Batengoo injuring at least twenty passengers on board.

   

The injured were taken to district hospital Anantnag andsub-district hospital Bijbehara.

However, two of them succumbed on way to the hospital.

One among the deceased is a woman identified as Saja Begumw/o Ghulam Muhamad of Shamsipora.

“Six of the injured are being treated at district hospitalAnantnag and their condition is stable,” a doctor said.

He said others had minor injuries and were treated in localPHC only.

A police official said a case has been registered andinvestigation set into motion to ascertain the cause of accident.
