Police on Monday said it arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession in Handwara area of Kupwara district.
A statement said officers on a checkpointat Adoora Bridge in the jurisdiction of police station Qalamabad interceptedone person, identified as Ashiq Hussain War of Chak Adoora and recovered 200gms of Charas from his possession.
“He was arrested and shifted to policestation Qalamabad,” said the statement, adding a case (FIR No. 09/2020) wasregistered and further investigation initiated.
Similarly, the statement said, officers ata checkpoint at Humpora Crossing in the jurisdiction of police station Kralgundintercepted one persons identified as Abdul Majeed Lone of Humpora, Kralgundand recovered 1.1 kg Charas from his possession.
The accused was arrested and shifted topolice station Kralgund, said the statement, adding a case (FIR No. 10/2020)was registered at police station Kralgund.
Meanwhile, two police-public meetings wereheld at police station Panzala and police station Bomai in Sopore town of northKashmir. The meetings were chaired bythe senior officers from local police units.
