2 OGWs arrested in Anantnag: Police

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday claimed that it arrested two overground workers and recovered a ‘live grenade from their possession.’

A police spokesperson said that a joint naka party of Anantnag police and 1 RR at Tulkhan crossing on Srinagar-Jammu highway.

   

“During checking, two persons were found roaming around suspiciously. The naka party apprehended them and they were searched. One live grenade was recovered from their possession. They were identified as Amin Ahmad Sofi, a resident of Charligund Awantipora and Tanveer Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Chechikot Awantipora,” the spokesperson said.

He said further investigations have revealed that they were assisting the Hizb militant Hamad Khan operating in Tral area and were “involved in the grenade attack at Goriwan Bijbehara on May 23 this year in which 10 civilians were injured.”
