2 SPOs quit

Two special police officers left their jobs and returned home in Pulwama and Anantnag districts on Friday. 

Source said SPO Bilal Ahmad Kumar son of Abdul Ahad Kumar announced resignation in a letter that was read out by Imam of Jamia Masjid Midoora Tral in 

Pulwama district this afternoon. “The SPO seeks public apology,” the Imam had said.

Another SPO, Faisal Ahmed Shah son of late Abdul Rashid Shah from Panzath Qazigund resigned at Jamia Masjid Nagbal Panzath in Anantnag district.

During the past one month as many as 24 SPOs left their jobs in areas falling under the jurisdiction of police district Awantipora. Nine of them returned to their homes after quitting job in Syedabad, eight in Amirabad Lurow Jagir, four in Chankitar, one each in Nader, Batagund and Pinglish villages.

A senior police official said the resignations would add to the number of unemployed youth and would hit the SPO recruitment in Kashmir.
