2010 KILLINGS: Zahid Farooq's anniversary observed

Hurriyat Conference (M) leader and J&K Salvation Movement chairman, Zaffar Akbar Bhat along with Javaid Ahmad Mir and others today paid tributes to Zahid Farooq on his anniversary.

The fifth death anniversary of teenage student, Zahid Farooq was observed here today.

They visited the residence of the slain at Nishat here and sympathized with his family.

On the occasion Zaffer said, “Shaheed Tufail Matoo, Wamiq Farooq, Zahid Farooq and other more than 100 families whose loved ones were killed by the armed forces are still awaiting justice and the killers are roaming free as none of them was punished.”

“A rally was taken out from the residence of martyr Zahid Farooq which culminated at the martyrs’ graveyard. Amid pro-freedom slogans, tributes were paid to martyrs of Brain-Nishat particularly to Abdul Razaq, Muhammad Aslam, Javaid Ahmad, Fida Hussian and others,” said a spokesman of JKSM in a statement today.

Meanwhile, a delegation of People’s League comprising Imtiyaz Reshi, Tahoor Sidiqi and Umar Khalid today visited Brain Nishat to show solidarity with the family of Zahid Farooq.

Speaking on the occasion, Reshi said, “The families of the martyrs of 2010 peaceful mass agitation are yet to get justice. The killers, who stand identified, are roaming free.” He reiterated pledge to take the mission of martyrs to its logical end.
