2010 MURDER CASE: Brother of deceased appears before court, cross-examined by defence counsel

Brother of a deceased woman, Rukhsana Jabeen, who was allegedly strangulated to death by her husband eight years ago, recorded his statement as prosecution witness before the trial court here on Saturday in the 2010 murder case.

Third additional principal district and sessions’ court, Srinagar recorded the statement of witnesses. The brother of the deceased, Fayaz Ahmad Rather, was listed among the prosecution witnesses. “There are 53 prosecution witnesses in the case while around seven prosecution witnesses are yet to record their statements before the court,” said advocate Bilquees Mushtaq Zargar, additional public prosecutor in the case.

   

As per police investigation, the accused, Muzaffar Ahmed Mir of Gulberg Colony, Hyderpora allegedly killed his wife Rukhsana Jabeen, a nurse by profession at district hospital, Chattergam over a personal dispute on the interviewing night of 28 and 29 September 2010. The accused is lodged at Central Jail Srinagar.

The next date of hearing of the case is on 15 May 2018.
