3 arrested in Manasbal park blast case

The police on Thursday claimed to have solved blast case that had occurred on the second day of Eid-ul-Fitr at Manasbal park last week in which around a dozen civilians were injured.

Earlier, police had downplayed the incident terming the blast had occurred due to “bursting of firecracker”.

Addressing a presser Senior Superintendent of Police Ganderbal Fayaz Ahmed Lone said three persons have been arrested in connection with the blast case.

He said arrested persons include Younis Khan, Irfan Khan and Bilal Ahmad Mir-all residents of Kondbal.

“During the course of interrogation these confessed that they had planned and executed the blast by preparing an explosive substance made of gelatin and other explosive material mostly used for blasting at stone quarries,” SSP said.

He said two among the accused work in stone quarry. “They had stolen gelatin and some other explosive material. They had kept the explosive in a coke bottle inside a dust bin in the park before igniting the fuse,” he said.

SSP Lone claimed the motive of the arrested persons was to create “fear psychosis” among the populace gathered at park on the occasion of Eid.
