'3 drug peddlers arrested in Sumbal'

Police on Monday said it arrested three drug peddlers from Sumbal area of this northern Kashmir district and seized contraband substance from their possession.

An official said on the directions of SSP Bandipora, Rahul Malik, a police team led by SDPO Sumbal, Saqib Ghani and Inspector Muneeb ul Islam laid a naka at Wangipora and arrested the drug peddlers.

An official said police recovered 101 bottles of contraband substance (codeine phosphate) from their possession.

The official said one among the arrested was a wanted drug peddler. The accused have been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat of Bazipora Ajas, Tanveer Ahmad Rather of Nesbal and Hilal Ahmad Wani of Wangipora.

The officials said a case has been registered in police station Sumbal and investigation taken up.
