4 shopkeepers arrested for defying restrictions: Police

Police on Wednesday said it arrested four shopkeepers for defying the prohibitory orders issued under section 144 to prevent spread of coronavirus infection.

An official said a police party from police station Safaporaled by SHO Sajad Khanday arrested two shopkeepers after they were found defyingthe prohibitory orders.

   

Similarly, two shopkeepers were arrested from Satrina andMargund areas by a police party from police station Kangan led by SHO AftabAhmed for defying the restrictions.

“The restrictionsimposed are for greater good of people and it will be prudent to stay at hometo reduce the chances of exposure to Covid-19. Social distancing and personalhygiene are the only ways of stopping the spread of this infection,” said SSPGanderbal, Khalil Ahmed Poswal. He said the violators will be dealt strictlyunder law.

Earlier on Tuesday, police has arrested at least elevenpersons for defying prohibitory orders and seized 10 tippers.
