4 youth detained in Shopian

The official identified them as Sajad Thokar, Rayees Ahmad Zargar and Shabir Ahmad. They have been detained for questioning and would be released if nothing adverse is found against them, the official said.

Three youth were detained by government forces during a nocturnal raid at a village in south Kashmir's Shopian district on Thursday.

A police official said on Thursday night, Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir police raided a cluster of houses in Meemender village, on the outskirts of Shopian town, and picked up three youth.

The official identified them as Sajad Thokar, Rayees Ahmad Zargar and Shabir Ahmad. They have been detained for questioning and would be released if nothing adverse is found against them, the official said.

Meanwhile, another youth, according to police, was arrested from Heff village of the district during a cordon and search operation on early Friday.

The government forces laid and siege around a cluster of houses and launched a search operation, police said. "During the operation one local youth was detained for questioning,” he said.
