Five shops were gutted Wednesday in a blaze that broke out at Iqbal market in Sopore town in the wee hours.
A fire and emergency services team rushed to the spot soonafter the blaze mysteriously engulfed a three-storey shopping complex inSopore’s main market.
The fire was doused, but officials said the cause of theblaze was not known.
The three gutted shops belonged to Wajahat Ahmad Tantray andAbdul Razak of Sopore.
The shopkeepers said woolen items worth lakhs of rupees weredestroyed by the fire. No one was reported injured during the fire and policeregistered a case to investigate its cause.
