6 more villages declared red zones in Bandipora

The authorities on Sunday declared six more villages in this district as “red-zones” and their surrounding villages as “buffer zones” after six persons tested positive to COVID-19 infection in past two days.

According to theofficials, the villages declared as red-zones include Konan, Gund Qaiser,Gund-Dachina, Hakbara, Madwan and Pethkote.

   

Deputy CommissionerBandipora Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza said that in view of six positive cases reportedfrom these six villages, it has become imperative to initiate restrictivemeasures under section 144 CrPC for immediate prevention of danger to humanlife, health and safety.

Accordingto the directions passed by the District Magistrate, there shall be no movementof any individual for any reason whatsoever permitted into and out of thesevillages. “However for any medical emergency, individuals can contact on 24*7Control Room on 01957-225024 or 01957-225323,” order reads.

The DC Bandipora alsodirected the law enforcing agencies to implement the prohibitory orders inletter and spirit to save human lives. He warned of strict action against theviolators of the order under section 188 IPC and other relevant provisions ofEpidemic Disease Act 1897 and the Disaster Management Act 2005.

The DC appealed thegeneral public to cooperate with the administration and ensure strict adherenceto the order as the non compliance shall constitute criminal offence andattract strict actions.

Officials said that therewould be no inward and outward movement of any person from the areas declaredas red zone and the people would stay inside their homes to ensure completelockdown. They warned of stern action against violators as per provision ofrelevant Acts.

Earlier, four villages ofHajin designated as red zones included Parray Mohala Hajin, Chandergeer Hajin,Batagund Hajin in Bandipora.

The officials said thatthe district administration has put in place a mechanism to ensureuninterrupted supplies and deliveries of essential services to the general publicof the district. He said essential commodities will be home-delivered toresidents as part of this mechanism.

With six new cases sinceSaturday, the number of confirmed Coronavirus cases has soared to 17 in theBandipora.
