The authorities at Tangmarg in this district have identified and quarantined 63 students and 20 contacts of a teacher who recently tested positive for COVID19.
Sub Divisional Magistrate Tangmarg, Shabir-ul-Hassan said all the identified students had been taking tuition at a tuition centre run by the teacher.
“As of now we have identified 63 students and all of them have been home quarantined as suggested by doctors. The process of identifying more such students is on,” said the SDM. “Around 20 teachers who are the colleagues of COVID19 patient have also been identified and home quarantined.” The teacher tested positive for COVID19, days after his father died due to the coronavirus infection. The authorities earlier tested all seven members of the deceased. The other six family members have, however, tested negative.
Following the death of COVID19 patient from Tangmarg, the authorities declared Sulinda village as Red Zone and seven other surrounding villages as Buffer Zones. No one from the area is allowed to leave or enter the village.
The authorities have also launched a vigorous campaign for screening locals. “We have screened over 9,000 people in the red zone and buffer zone villages of Tangmarg. Several of them have been suggested home quarantine” said the SDM.
