63 students, 20 colleagues of COVID patient quarantined in Tangmarg

The authorities at Tangmarg in this district have identified and quarantined 63 students and 20 contacts of a teacher who recently tested positive for COVID19.

Sub Divisional Magistrate Tangmarg, Shabir-ul-Hassan saidall the identified students had been taking tuition at a tuition centre run bythe teacher.

   

“As of now we have identified 63 students and all of themhave been home quarantined as suggested by doctors. The process of identifyingmore such students is on,” said the SDM. “Around 20 teachers who are thecolleagues of COVID19 patient have also been identified and home quarantined.”The teacher tested positive for COVID19, days after his father died due to thecoronavirus infection. The authorities earlier tested all seven members of thedeceased. The other six family members have, however, tested negative.

Following the death of COVID19 patient from Tangmarg, theauthorities declared Sulinda village as Red Zone and seven other surroundingvillages as Buffer Zones. No one from the area is allowed to leave or enter thevillage.

The authorities have also launched a vigorous campaign forscreening locals. “We have screened over 9,000 people in the red zone andbuffer zone villages of Tangmarg. Several of them have been suggested homequarantine” said the SDM.
