7 Mahar conducts expedition in Leh

A high altitude cycling cum mountaineering expedition was conducted by 7 Mahar, an infantry regiment of the Army, in the Stok range of the Himalayas at Leh in Ladakh.

The expedition was held from 7 to 23 April.

   

The adventure activity was undertaken to commemorate the20th anniversary of Kargil War and celebrate the diamond jubilee of the raisingof 7 Mahar, an army handout said.

The expedition team comprised of two officers, one JCO and11 other ranks of 7 Mahar who commenced the mountain biking from Pratap Purover treacherous terrain and steep gradients along the world’s highestmotorable road and crossed Khardung La covering a distance of 167 km up tillLeh.

The team climbed the famous mountain peak Mt Golep Kangri(5950 Mtr).

The flag-in ceremony was conducted on 23 April at Fire andFury Corps HQ, wherein Lt Gen YK Joshi, General Officer Commanding, Fire andFury Corps congratulated the team on the successful completion of theexpedition.
