Police detained seven youths during raids on Friday night and Saturday in various areas of Tral, relations of militants among them.
The father and cousin of HizbulMujahideen commander Hammad Khan were among the detainees. The raids were carried out in TralBala, TralPayeen and Seer areas.
Families of the detained youths were seen outside police station Tral. They told Greater Kashmir the youths have nothing to do with a grenade attack that left 10 forces personnel injured and which probably appears to be reason behind the detention.
Awantipora superintendent of police Muhammad Zahid Malik told Greater Kashmir, “Some over ground workers and miscreants have been detained for questioning after a grenade attack in the town.”
The town observed a strike for the fourth consecutive day on Saturday against detentions.
