Abdul Rehman Veeri urges Govt to make proper arrangements for Eid-ul-Milad-ul-Nabi (SAW)

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday urged the state dispensation to ensure adequate arrangements for the devotees who would attend the Congregational prayers in connection with Eid-ul-Milad-ul-Nabi (SAW) falling on November 21.

In a statement PDP vice-president Abdul Rehman Veeri said that lakhs of devotees are about to attend the congregational prayers at various shrines and mosques across Kashmir and that the government must make proper arrangements for them during the Urs days.

He added that besides other revered shrines and mosques, large gatherings are expected at south Kashmir’s Khiram, Sirhama, Kabamarg and Srinagar’s Hazaratbal wherein special prayers will be held.

Veeri said that the government should make arrangements related to provision of transport, drinking water supply, cleanliness and sanitation, medical facilities and other basic amenities in and around shrines and mosques in Kashmir.

He underlined the need for the availability of essential commodities particularly rice, sugar, flour, K-oil and LPG during the Urs days.

He asked the Governor administration to ensure that uninterrupted water and electricity supply to the mosques and shrines during the Urs days is made available by the PDD and PHE departments.

Veeri also appealed to the state administration to keep sufficient passenger transport available at all prime spots during the Urs days.
