Abdullah, Mehbooba visit Babanagri to condole demise of Mian Altaf’s daughter

The two former J&K chief ministers and heads of the National conference and People’s Democratic Party Dr Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday visited Mian family at Babanagri Kangan to express condolence on the demise of Benazir Altaf, elder daughter of senior NC leader and former MLA Kangan Mian Altaf.

Abdullah and other NC leaders including Ali Muhammad Sagar,Chaudhary Mohammad Ramzan, Basharat Bukhari, Mohammad Akbar Lone, Abdul RahimRather, Sheikh Ishfaq Jabar, Nazir Ahmad Gurezi and several other mainstreamleaders participated in the funeral prayers of the deceased held in theafternoon. Besides social, trade, religious and employee leaders also were partof the funeral.

   

“NC president personally condoled with Mian family in thishour of grief praying for peace to the soul of the departed and much neededstrength to the aggrieved family members to bear the inconsolable loss,” an NCstatement read.

Mehbooba reached the residence of Mian Altaf at around 4:30pm. She stayed for half an hour and expressed her sympathy with the bereavedfamily.

Benazir Altaf passed away after prolonged illness at SKIMSSoura on Friday evening. Her body was taken to Babanagri for last rites.

Around ten thousand people attended the funeral prayers.

Mian Sarafraz Ahmad, elder brother of Mian Altaf toldGreater Kashmir that the Rasmi Chaharum of the deceased will be held on April23.

Acording to Mian family, Benazir Altaf was under treatmentsince couple of years at TATA memorial hospital Mumbai.

She was at Babanagri since last week and was admitted toSKIMS two days before her demise on Friday.

Deceased was wife of chaudhary Ajmad Ali and resided inJammu . She is survived by two sons of 7 and 5 years of age.
