ACB arrest former CAO, AEO Budgam for misappropriation of funds

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday arrested the former Chief Agriculture Officer (CAO) Budgam and former Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) Budgam in a “misappropriation of government funds” case.
In a statement, ACB said, “During the investigation in Case FIR No. 02/2018, ACB Kashmir arrested the accused the then CAO Budgam Nissar Ahmad Sheikh, and the then AEO Budgam Ghulam Rasool Bhat for misappropriation of government funds.”

The ACB said that the instant case was registered in the bureau on the directions of erstwhile State Vigilance Commission.
“Various awareness training camps in District Budgam for farmers on papers were organised during the year 2016-2017 under central government sponsored scheme “NAMET”. It was established during investigation, no such training camp were organized and bills to the tune of Rs. 21 lakh on this count were drawn from the government treasury by the accused. It caused huge loss to the State Exchequer on account of misappropriation of funds,” the ACB said.

   

The ACB said to proceed further into the investigation, the accused were arrested to unearth the modus operandi of siphoning of the funds, and further investigation in the case is going on.
